MINNEAPOLIS, August 30, 2026 — A long-haul cabin is the hardest place to get light right. Passengers sit close. They stay there for hours. The picture still has to look like 4K OLED.

Panasonic Avionics Corporation announced August 27, from Irvine, California, that its full Astrova™ 4K OLED in-flight engagement suite — 13-inch to 42-inch — has achieved Eyesafe® Display Requirements 3.0. UL Solutions Marketing Claim Verification ID V628585 lists the Astrova RD-FW98 13/16/19/22/27/32/42-inch models as Verified for reduced blue light eyesafe® RPF40. RPF only. Panasonic owns that byline. Astrova is the first IFE system to receive this voluntary, third-party verified Display 3.0 RPF40 result.

Aircraft Interiors International has already reported it as trade coverage of Panasonic’s announcement.

Astrova IFE powers on — Eyesafe on the glass.
Power on. The light is already managed.

Panasonic said Astrova meets Requirements 3.0 through advanced display engineering — precise spectral tuning at the pixel level — for a more comfortable viewing experience while holding the color, contrast, and clarity expected from 4K OLED. The same RPF40 bar runs from 13-inch to 42-inch, so an airline can spec one standard across economy seatbacks and suite displays.

According to Panasonic Avionics, that lets carriers standardize eye comfort across cabin classes, support more comfortable viewing on extended sessions, keep uncompromised 4K OLED picture quality, and differentiate the cabin with wellness-focused innovation.

“Congratulations to Panasonic Avionics,” said Justin Barrett, CEO and Co-Founder of Eyesafe. “Long-haul IFE is exactly where better light has to be built in — not layered on. Astrova is the first in-flight engagement system UL-verified RPF40 to Eyesafe Display Requirements 3.0, across the entire 13- to 42-inch 4K OLED suite. Eye comfort and 4K OLED picture quality, held together.”

Adri Ruiter, Senior Vice President of In-flight Systems and Senior Vice President of Global Operations at Panasonic Avionics, said in Panasonic’s August 27 announcement: “The Eyesafe certification of Astrova’s OLED screens demonstrates Panasonic Avionics’ commitment to advanced display technology, passenger comfort, and continuous innovation in the in-flight entertainment experience.”
