Screen Time and Blue Light Exposure

Average daily screen time is growing, and as many as 4 in 5 adults complain of digital eye strain – a direct result of extended computer and smartphone usage and prolonged exposure to the high energy blue light emitted from typical displays.

The Health Impacts of Digital Eye Strain and Over-Exposure to Blue Light can lead to

  • Dry, irritated eyes
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Blurred vision
  • Reduced attention span
  • Irritability and difficulty concentrating

First to Market Intelligent Blue Light Protection.

Eyesafe® Display intelligently manages light energy at the source – selectively reducing blue light and dispersing across the light spectrum.

Eyesafe® Display

Eyesafe® Display brings first to market innovation with protection for your eyes from toxic high-energy visible (HEV) blue light without compromising the color quality emanating from the device. Established through years of research and designed with eye doctors, this innovation manages light directly at the source to meet Eyesafe® Requirements for blue light from displays, while maintaining vivid color quality and achieving industry standards.

Eyesafe® Display offers first to market innovation.

  • Health & Safety: Protects your eyes by lowering high-energy blue light emissions
  • Vivid Color: Maintains beautifully vivid color accuracy by intelligent management of RGB
  • Trust: Meets the Eyesafe and TÜV standards for color balance and blue light reduction; it’s the blue light solution recommended by the Vision Health Advisory Board.

Reduces High-energy Blue Light and Maintains Vivid Color.

Eyesafe® Display combines RGB hardware and software adjustments to more effectively protect against blue light, while maintaining vivid color integrity.

Eyesafe® Display – How it Works

What is it?
With average screen time exceeding 10 hours per day on average, we are all taking in large amounts of high-energy visible blue light. This exposure can lead to headaches, sore/dry eyes, blurred vision and prolonged exposure over time could even cause retina damage. High-Energy Visible (HEV) blue light has been identified as a contributor to these effects due to the sensitivity of the human eye, compounded by the high energy it carries.

Design Focus
To reduce this potentially high-energy light and to mitigate its effects without compromising image quality and color.

Eyesafe® Displays actively spread the blue light spectrum to reduce the peak energy emitted from the LED. This provides a reduction of high-energy blue light, redistribution of light energy and maintained color performance. This innovation meets Eyesafe® and TÜV international standards for quality and safety.

“We have focused on the most high-energy blue light spectrum with Eyesafe® related to blue light protection. This toxic blue light region is 415-455nm within the light spectrum and should be managed effectively by the display industry.”

Eyesafe® Display Emits 29% Less Blue Light than a traditional industry notebook display

Eyesafe® helps defend your eyes from high-energy light by adjusting blue light emissions into a safer output range.
