Eyesafe Announces the Appointment of Consumer Electronics and Display Veteran Davis Lee as Senior Advisor

MINNEAPOLIS, USA // Jan 19, 2021 // Eyesafe, the world leader in low blue light solutions for consumer electronics, today announced the appointment of Davis Lee as Senior Advisor to the company. Lee, who until December of 2020 was the Senior Vice President at Dell Technologies where he served as the General Manager of the company’s $5.3 Billion and market-leading global display business, will be advising the company on a variety of strategic, technology, and go-to-market strategies.

“I am thrilled to be part of the Eyesafe team,” said Davis Lee. “The pandemic has laid bare what we in the display industry have known for quite some time – that we need to adopt protective measures from the blue light emitted from electronics devices. Eyesafe, with the backing of leading eye doctors from across the globe, is emerging as consumers’ most trusted brand for low blue light safety, and I am really excited to roll up my sleeves and help accelerate the universal adoption of Eyesafe across the industry.”

“After 32 years in the consumer electronics industry, I have come to believe that the next five years will see more innovation in display than the last 50 combined, and I confident that dealing with the human health impacts of blue light will be a big part of all the changes that lie ahead.”

Lee joins Eyesafe at a pivotal moment in the consumer electronics industry as it grapples with how best to protect consumers’ eyes as they become increasingly dependent on devices for most aspects of daily life. A recent Nielsen / Eyesafe study indicated that average screen time – even before the onset of Covid-19 – was averaging over 13 hours a day for adults in the US. All indications suggest that the impacts from the pandemic on distance learning, working-from-home, and remote socializing have added to average screen time intake considerably. Consumer awareness of the dangers posed by blue light are rising as well, and this heightened demand for blue light filtration solutions is signaling a major shift in how consumer electronics are designed and developed by the consumer electronics global supply chain.

“We are incredibly blessed to have Davis joining the Eyesafe team,” noted Eyesafe co-founder and CEO Justin Barrett. “His decades of experience, leadership, and innovation across the global display industry will play a key role in many of our key initiatives this year and in the years ahead.”

Prior to his work at Dell Technologies, Lee spent nearly 25 years at LG Display, culminating in his role as SVP of Global Sales & Marketing to lead LG display to be WW #1 display company and played a pivotal role to launch OLED display in mobile and automotive application as well.

Eyesafe’s suite of solutions for the global display industry experienced strident growth in 2020, buoyed by skyrocketing demand for low blue light solutions amid the global pandemic. Currently the company works with major brands such as Dell, HP, Lenovo and Acer and at CES 2021, the company announced, in conjunction with LG Display, the world’s first Eyesafe-certified television display. Eyesafe also works with ZAGG brands, the world’s leading aftermarket screen protection company.
