BenQ’s 28.2-inch 4K+ programming monitor meets Eyesafe requirements for blue light emissions and display performance. Three more BenQ monitors join it.
A developer’s day happens in one window of light. Code review in the morning, a build that runs long, a fix that ships after dark. Adults in the United States already spend more than 11 hours a day with screens,1 and for the people who write software, much of that time is spent on a single monitor.
That is the screen BenQ designed the RD280UG for, and it is now Eyesafe® Certified.
What’s new
The BenQ RD280UG 28.2-inch 4K+ programming monitor has been certified to Eyesafe requirements for blue light emissions and display performance. It is now featured in the Product Spotlight on eyesafe.com.
Three more BenQ monitors were certified with it:
- BenQ RD270Q, a 27-inch 2K programming monitor
- BenQ GW2486TC, a 23.8-inch eye-care monitor
- BenQ GW2786TC, a 27-inch eye-care monitor
All four join BenQ’s line of Eyesafe Certified monitors and BenQ Board interactive displays at eyesafe.com/benq.
Built around code
BenQ designed the RD280UG for programmers, and the details show it. According to BenQ:
- A taller canvas. A 28.2-inch 3:2 panel at 3840 × 2560 shows more lines of code per screen than a standard 16:9 monitor, with less scrolling.
- Smooth motion. A 120 Hz refresh rate keeps scrolling through long files fluid.
- Coding modes. Dark Theme and Light Theme tune the picture for the editor; Paper Color gives documentation a paper-like look.
- A matte finish. BenQ’s Nano Matte coating cuts reflections from overhead lights and windows.
- Light behind the screen. The MoonHalo backlight on the rear of the monitor lights the wall softly for late sessions, and Night Hours Protection lowers brightness for work after dark.
- One cable, two machines. USB-C with 90 W charging, daisy chaining and a built-in KVM switch let a laptop and a desktop share one keyboard and mouse.
What Eyesafe Certified adds
BenQ’s features shape how the monitor looks and works. Eyesafe certification answers a different question: how does the light leaving the screen perform against a measured standard?
An Eyesafe Certified display reduces blue light while maintaining the vibrant color of your screen. The approach is built into the display itself. Rather than shifting the whole picture warmer, the way night-mode software turns a screen orange, Eyesafe requirements limit high-energy blue light and set limits on color performance at the same time. For a developer, that means syntax highlighting, UI mockups and design files still look the way they were meant to look.
Eyesafe requirements are developed with the Eyesafe Vision Health Advisory Board, a group of leading ophthalmologists and optometrists from around the world, and measured against the Eyesafe standard by independent labs.
BenQ and Eyesafe
BenQ has worked with Eyesafe for years. BenQ was the first global brand to adopt Eyesafe DTX blue light technology, introduced at CES 2023, and the first interactive display provider to earn Eyesafe Certification for classroom screens. Today BenQ’s Eyesafe line runs from programming and eye-care monitors to BenQ Board interactive displays for schools.
The RD280UG continues that line on the desk where many people spend the most hours of their day.
