PRESS RELEASE
- Developed in collaboration with top ophthalmologists and optometrists, Eyesafe® Eyewear features advanced lens technology by BluTech, designed to reduce eye strain and improve sleep.
- Eyesafe is introducing new category-defining requirements for blue light glasses to establish benchmarks for effectiveness and color clarity.
Eyesafe, a global leader in blue light management, is proud to introduce Eyesafe Eyewear, a collection of premium blue light glasses designed to reduce eye strain and improve sleep. Developed with medical experts, Eyesafe Eyewear offers advanced blue light filtration in stylish, high-quality frames—bringing a new level of innovation to everyday eyewear.
As screen time now averages more than 11 hours per day,¹ blue light exposure has become a growing concern among doctors, employers, and individuals. Many experience symptoms such as digital eye strain, headaches, and disrupted sleep cycles due to prolonged screen use.²
“As an eye doctor, I’m seeing more patients experiencing eye strain due to long hours on their devices,” said Paul Karpecki, OD, Director of Cornea and External Disease at Kentucky Eye Institute and member of the Eyesafe Vision Health Advisory Board. “Eyesafe Eyewear delivers a high level of blue light filtration without compromising visual clarity—making it a great solution for those looking to support their eye health and wellbeing.”
A New Standard for Blue Light Glasses
Eyesafe Eyewear represents a breakthrough in blue light protection, addressing the limitations of traditional blue light glasses. Many options on the market use yellow-tinted lenses that significantly alter color perception, while others claim to filter blue light but provide little real protection. Eyesafe Eyewear maintains true-to-life screen colors while offering superior protection.
Eyesafe Eyewear is Designed for Protection without Compromise
- Eyesafe RPF40 Protection – 2x the blue light filtration compared to a leading branded lens coating.³
- BluTech Lens Technology – Advanced filtering that reduces blue light while preserving screen color and clarity.
- Developed with Doctors – Designed in collaboration with leading ophthalmologists and optometrists to ensure superior eye comfort.
- Validated Performance – Clinical studies show BluTech lens technology in Eyesafe Eyewear can boost melatonin by 96%, helping maintain healthy circadian rhythms.⁴
“At Eyesafe, we’ve spent years pioneering blue light solutions for the world’s leading consumer electronics brands,” said Justin Barrett, CEO & Co-Founder of Eyesafe. “With Eyesafe Eyewear, we’re bringing that same level of innovation directly to consumers in a new area—redefining what people can expect from blue light protection eyewear.”

Introducing Eyesafe® Eyewear Requirements
In addition to launching Eyesafe Eyewear, Eyesafe is introducing a set of industry-first requirements designed to redefine the blue light eyewear category.
- RPF (Radiance Protection Factor) Scale – A new standardized measure of blue light filtration effectiveness, modeled after SPF for sunscreen. The RPF level identifies how much blue light is filtered at peak 435-440 nanometers, providing transparency for consumers.
- Color Impact– The maximum color shift and luminance reduction allowed by RPF level to ensure visual clarity and accuracy, so users can enjoy their devices while wearing blue light eyewear without significant color distortion.
By introducing the RPF Scale and color performance requirements, Eyesafe is setting a new benchmark for blue light eyewear, helping consumers make informed purchase decisions about quality and effectiveness.
