Formulation Scientist, Eyesafe

Overview

Eyesafe is looking for a Formulation Scientist who has experience with coating formulations for optical products. Experience in developing these coatings for both pilot scale and production would also be important. The candidate will report to the Vice President of Research and Development.

This position will provide the candidate with opportunities to utilize their materials and coating formulation background to develop new and innovative optical products for the electronics display industry. The planning and development of experiments, development of product specifications and design as well as communication with a range of suppliers, external development partners and customers will all be required.

Responsibilities
• Plan and execute experiments on a lab scale related to coating formulations that meet critical material and optical requirements.
• Develop research strategies and outline laboratory needs or outside services to execute those plans.
• Perform measurement and testing of the product samples with equipment that include UV/Vis spectrophotometers, colorimeters and accelerated weathering equipment
• Take the data obtained from those measurements and analyze with Excel and other statistical software.
• Take those experimental findings and develop product strategies for meeting customer requirements.
• Take customer requirements and further develop those into achievable product specifications.
• Define product development projects along with other research related investigations with specific milestones and tasks. Communicate project status to the larger Eyesafe Research group as well as Sales and Supply Chain teams.
• Support our own or our external partners manufacturing scale-up of those same products.
• Maintaining lab including process equipment, cleanliness, and safe operations
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Ph.D in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.
• Experience with optical products for the display industry.
• Analysis of films and materials with analytical equipment including UV/Vis Spectrophotometer.
• Experience with materials and applications in the electronics and display industry.
• Self-starter with hands-on approach to problem solving
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work well both in multi-disciplinary teams and independently

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with optical analytical equipment including UV/Vis Spectrophotometer.
• Experience with LCD and/or OLED Display systems.
• Background in Color Science and Optics.
• Strong technical background with product development experience
• Skilled in customer interactions and collaborative projects
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work well both in multi-disciplinary teams and independently
